Leading universities throughout the state of Virginia have developed a distance learning program to make Master of Engineering degrees readily available to qualified engineers. At the center of the Commonwealth Graduate Enginering Program are the accredited graduate engineering programs at the University of Virginia.


This nationally ranked university offers regular online engineering master's courses to students in Virginia and beyond. Sudents take classes online in real time. Classes are scheduled in the afternoon and early evening hours.

• Note to out-of-state students wishing to enroll in the University of Virginia’s online courses and degree offerings. The University of Virginia is currently working to comply with federal regulations that require it (and all other higher education institutions) to receive official state authorization to offer courses to students physically located outside of Virginia. At present, due to these federal “state authorization” regulations, UVA engineering can only accept course and degree applications from students in the 32 approved states, as shown on this map (updated 3.04.2015).
